Shoveling Snow.

Massive amounts of snow mixed with triathlon training.

Does time spent shoveling snow count as running or biking?

Or should it really be a strength workout?

No, I find it a bit more endurance.

Given that I do not think I will be running on the road for a day or so, I don’t have much of a choice but to count it as my run workout.

In some ways of course I am joking. Yet, when training for a long distance race, when your body is either working out or recovering at all times – or both during a recovery workout – I think we have to take into account all forms of physical movement and recognize that they do add up. I may not add it into my hours for weekly training, but I sure will make a note of it for the day, and my excuse for missing the morning run.
